Bridal and Quinceaneara shops to unveil new styles and fashions for ‘05 on Sunday, February 27, 2005 at Fair Park Tower Building

The Latino Bridal & Quinceanera Expo, a FREE bilingual bridal and quinceanera show for those families planning their weddings or quinceaneras is scheduled for Sunday, February 27, 2005 at Fair Park Tower Building from noon to 6 p.m.

Al Dia, the Spanish language daily published by The Dallas Morning News partners with Strategic Events to co-produce this event. The Expo is free to the public with coupon (or $5 entrance fee) and highlights products and services especially produced for the bride and quinceanera during the most special time of her life.

The Quinceanera is the celebration of a 15-year-old girl’s transition into adulthood. The ceremony derives in part from rites celebrated among Indians of the Americas more than 500 years ago to signify the adolescent’s passage into adulthood and acceptance of responsibilities. Families celebrate with a religious ceremony followed by social festivities. Young girls wear long white gowns resembling wedding dresses, religious medals that express her faith, a ring that symbolizes her spiritual and communal responsibilities, and a crown that foreshadows her success in her future life.

Young men play a part in the Quinceanera celebrations, also! Young men act as escorts to the girls who participate as damas (maids of honor). These escorts are called Chamberlanes. Over time, these escorts have transitioned into military-style cadets who showcase their dance, marches and choreography to uphold the emphasis on the quinceanera.

During the Latino Bridal Quinceanera Expo, many traditions for Latin weddings and quinceaneras will be presented during the Fashion show sponsored by Mariela’s Bridal Boutique. Latin Illusion, a male cadet team, will present the quinceanera dances from the stage beginning at 1:00 pm. The Expo will feature Latino-owned businesses located in the Dallas area that specialize in making dreams come true for the young women and their families. In addition to these family-owned businesses, Dallas area businesses that are expanding their customer base to the growing and influential Latino consumer will market their products to Latino families.

Fashion shows highlighting the latest trends in bridal, quinceanera and formal wear will excite the attendees throughout the day. Stage show times are at 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Some of the products and services to be showcased at the Expo are:  gowns, cakes, limousine services, flowers, salons, tuxedoes, specialty foods, lazos, arras, baskets, and other Hispanic customs for the bridal and quinceanera ceremony. Entrance, with coupon, and parking is FREE. All attendees will register to win free gifts presented by these businesses throughout the day.

FREE entrance coupons are available at Mariela’s Bridal Shop, Parisina’s Bridal Shop, Cheesecake Royale and FiestaMarts. This expo is produced by Strategic Events, a local Hispanic-owned business.
